Equivalent conicity is a mesaure of wheel/rail contact conditions. It is described by the standard EN15302 (earlier UIC519).
Paul Dreik participated in the verification of the standard and has since then worked with several related projects.
- an octave/matlab toolbox for calculate equivalent conicity from arbritrary wheel and rail profiles. The toolbox can also calculate radial steering index.
