A time stamping machine has been developed, able to generate absolute timestamps from an external interrupt source such as a sync input. The timestamps are made using gps, with hardware support to achieve sub microsecond accuracy. The hardware can be battery driven and fits in a small box.
This product could be used to measure related events far apart (as long as both have gps coverage) without need for direct connection between them.
Applications
- measure phase in electricity grids on multiple points in a country
- timing for dragracing and other motorsport events
- getting timestamps in orienteering (good with a battery powered device!)
There is a working basic prototype. Feel free to inquiry if you are interested.
